Ordered the 90° O2 Oxygen Sensor Spacer Fix P0420/P0042/P0430 Check Engine Light CEL Mini Catalytic Converter Generic adapter. This was for an 2006 Nissan Altima that kept throwing a P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)). This was the only code that was coming up consistently. Would also get a P0171 (Something to the effect of System too Lean), but this would not always come up. Only consistent code was the P0420. Ordered the 90 degree one only because I did not think I could extend the O2 sensor much further. This 90 fit perfectly. I did use loctite on the tip based on other reviews which said it was loose. It really is, barely hand tightened. If you buy these, make sure the tip is secured properly. Could probably just screw it down tight with pliers, but I added loctite as some insurance for this not to come off as others had mentioned. Once installed, cleared the code and went through the drive cycles. I was able to go through two drive cycles and the catalyst monitor passed the readiness test quite quickly, whereas without this, it would always show up as pending and then turn on the CEL light once completed. It would no longer successfully complete the readiness test at all. Now I know for sure that the catalytic converter is bad. Have not had this installed very long, but it actually does do something as the readiness test now completes. I will end up replacing the catalytic converter now, but feel much better knowing that it is truly bad. Worth the 30 bucks spent. Also kind of a cool experiment to see if this actually works. I'm sure it won't always work, but seems this model Nissan is prone to this catalytic converter issue and if the P0420 code is the only code popping up, then this is worth a shot. If the light goes away, you know for sure your cc is bad.
